It is widely used in common machine components such as cable ties, screws, bolts, nuts, and even plastic gears. Of course, compared to other plastic materials, it requires higher printing temperatures, making its use more professional. Today, we would like to share the advantages of using nylon material for custom gears.
What is nylon material suitable for? The greatest advantage of nylon material is its applicability to various printing methods.
1) Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM)
This is one of the commonly used printing methods, which uses nylon filament for printing. With FDM technology, it is easy to produce prototypes, but due to nylon's susceptibility to moisture, achieving a smooth finished product can be relatively challenging. For better results, drying before use can reduce humidity.
2) Multi Jet Fusion (MJF)
This is a non-laser sintering powder material 3D printing technology that uses localized heating and a movable print head. It does not require drying all materials, but a relatively moisture-free environment is still needed for optimal results.
3) Selective Laser Sintering (SLS)
