In winter, the reverse transpiration effect of permeable pavement causes snow and ice on permeable surfaces to melt faster than on conventional pavements. The melted snow turns into water and drains directly into the ground through the permeable pavement, leaving no surface water accumulation or ice formation, making permeable pavement more slip-resistant in winter compared to conventional surfaces.
