ID-221 Water Surface Oil Monitoring System

Working Principle
The ID-221 Water Surface Oil Detection System utilizes industry-leading electromagnetic energy absorption technology. This device primarily consists of a high-frequency generator and an antenna connected to it. The antenna is immersed in the liquid to be monitored. The more energy the liquid absorbs, the greater the workload on the antenna, which in turn increases the energy supplied by the high-frequency generator accordingly. Since water absorbs more energy than hydrocarbons (various oil substances) and air, the antenna's workload is higher when immersed in water. If the antenna is immersed in an oil layer or an oil-water mixture, the workload decreases proportionally with the reduction in water content. The instrument's unique patented technology can detect the presence of thin oil layers, enabling continuous monitoring of oil accumulation and measurement of oil layer thickness.

ID-221 Product Description
The high-frequency generator of the ID-221 is mounted on a specially designed float, which ensures precise positioning at the liquid-gas interface even with fluctuations in liquid level.


The ID-221 can be set with two-stage alarm points:
◎ Low oil level alarm: Detects the presence of a hydrocarbon layer.
◎ High oil level alarm: Detects when the hydrocarbon layer rises to a pre-set thickness.

The ID-221 can accurately detect water surface oil layers as thin as 0.3 mm, offering high reliability, repeatability, and excellent performance with no false alarms. It also enables online monitoring of continuous changes in oil layer thickness. The signal processor relay output facilitates both local and remote alarms and can also be used for control purposes. To prevent the effects of signal fluctuations or noise, a relay response time delay is set to ensure monitoring accuracy and reliability. In conditions with frequent and severe liquid level fluctuations, the use of a water stabilizer is recommended. The instrument features built-in self-diagnostic functions that continuously monitor the operational status of the detection sensor.

Applications
The ID-221 can be installed in drainage channels, storage ponds, and groundwater monitoring wells around oil depots to monitor the presence or changes in oil layers. Real-time detection of hydrocarbons and other organic solvents enables early on-site leakage alarms and timely remediation. Other effective applications include sewer systems, wastewater treatment systems, stormwater discharge, oil-water separation systems, cooling water tanks, settling ponds, and boiler condensate tanks.
