EC33000 E308L - 16 Stainless Steel Welding Electrode

• Composition Characteristics: Belongs to the titanium-calcium type coated stainless steel electrode, with a small amount of carbon in the alloy. The chemical composition (mass fraction) of the deposited metal is approximately: C≤0.04, Mn 0.5 - 2.5, Si≤1.0, S≤0.03, P≤0.04, Cr 18.0 - 21.0, Ni 9.0 - 12.0, Mo≤0.75, Cu≤0.75.
• Performance Advantages: Exhibits excellent resistance to intergranular corrosion due to its low carbon content, which effectively prevents the formation of chromium carbides at grain boundaries, thereby avoiding intergranular corrosion. Additionally, this electrode offers stable arc, minimal spatter, easy slag removal, aesthetically pleasing weld formation, and good mechanical properties. The tensile strength of the deposited metal generally reaches above 510MPa, with an elongation of not less than 30%.
• Application Scope: Primarily used for welding corrosion-resistant 0Cr19Ni9-type (AISI 304) stainless steel structures operating at temperatures below 300°C. It is also suitable for welding austenitic-ferritic dissimilar steel joints, corrosion-resistant overlay welding on non-alloy steels, and as a buffer layer, such as for AISI 302, 304, and 308 stainless steels, as well as A743 and A744 type CF-8 cast materials.
• Welding Process: Can be used with both AC and DC power sources; when using DC, reverse polarity is recommended. The welding current varies depending on the electrode diameter: generally, 40 - 70A for a 2.4mm diameter electrode, 60 - 100A for a 3.2mm diameter electrode, and 90 - 140A for a 4.0mm diameter electrode. Short arc operation should be maintained during welding to ensure weld quality.

• Composition Characteristics: This is a high-nickel content electrode, with specific composition typically kept confidential by manufacturers. The high nickel content is a key feature, contributing to improved crack resistance and mechanical properties of the weld.
• Performance Advantages: Offers excellent crack resistance due to its unique alloy composition and nodular metallurgical structure, effectively reducing crack formation during welding. The weld metal also exhibits good mechanical properties, such as high strength and toughness, with a tensile strength generally between 370 - 440MPa and a hardness HV30 of 130 - 1705. Additionally, this electrode provides good welding process performance, stable arc, smooth droplet transfer, and is suitable for all-position welding, even on contaminated surfaces5.
• Application Scope: Mainly used for low-temperature repair welding of ductile iron, malleable iron, alloy cast iron, and general cast iron. It is also suitable for joining cast iron to carbon steel and low-alloy steel, such as for repairing and connecting cast iron components like machine bodies, pump casings, gearboxes, cladding molds, large cast iron sections, air compressors, flywheels, impellers, etc.
