Technical Requirements for Intelligent Test Stations: Intelligent cathodic protection stations must be installed at locations where pipeline leads are available. The collector housing uses a cast aluminum waterproof enclosure, installed inside the upper door of the test station. The collector's cables are connected to the insulated terminal block inside the lower door of the test station, and the antenna is routed out through the antenna exit hole on the back of the test station. The reference electrode and test probe are buried underground, with cables entering the test station through the wiring hole at the bottom and connected to the insulated terminal block, then linked to the device's collector cables.

1. Construction Process:

1.1 Soak the cloth bag containing the reference electrode and backfill material in water for more than 6 hours for later use.

1.2 On one side of the pipeline, at a depth of 1.5 meters and within 30-80 cm of the pipeline, place the reference electrode and test probe. The cloth bag of the reference electrode should be placed in the center, with test probes distributed around it, ideally 15-30 cm from the reference cloth bag. Before placing the test probes, compact the soil around the pre-placed reference area, then insert the probes into the compacted soil.

1.3 Place the test station into the working pit, then route the pipeline lead, reference cable, and probe cables into the test station through the opening on one side of the bottom. Pull them out from the lower door of the test station, leaving sufficient length for later wiring.

1.4 Pour half a bucket of water into the reference electrode bag in the pit, then use a multimeter and portable reference electrode to measure the long-term reference value and the potential value of the test probes. Ensure the potential is qualified before backfilling. Then, crimp the pipeline lead into an M8-opened copper lug and wrap it with electrical tape.

1.5 Insert the antenna into the test station through the hole on the top back, pull it out from the upper door for later use, attach the antenna mushroom head securely, and ensure waterproofing.

1.6 Screw the antenna into the device's antenna port, route the cables into the lower door, then hang the hook on the top back of the device onto the internal stud and secure the device inside the upper door of the test station.

1.7 Fix each cable to the studs of the insulated terminal block one by one according to the labels.

Intelligent cathodic protection test stations are emerging products of IoT information technology. The new intelligent cathodic protection test stations can automatically measure cathodic protection data such as pipeline cathodic protection potential, natural potential, and interrupted potential. They can also detect interference data from stray currents on the pipeline, such as AC-induced voltage and AC stray current density, providing comprehensive data monitoring to facilitate the complete elimination of stray current interference and ensure the stable operation of the pipeline.

By working in conjunction with buried long-term reference electrodes and test coupons, intelligent test stations collect data such as pipeline ON potential, native corrosion potential, interrupted potential, AC interference voltage, and AC stray current. The data is converted into binary data recognizable by computers through the device's high-precision operational amplifier circuit and A/D conversion circuit. After processing, packaging, and encoding by the CPU, it is transmitted to the server via the onboard 4G communication module, where the server parses and stores the data. Customers can simply log in to the B/S architecture software page via a browser to view the cathodic protection data from various pipeline tests.

Traditional test stations primarily rely on manual field measurements using instruments like multimeters for cathodic protection data collection. This method is limited to single data types, inefficient, unreliable, and hazardous, making it difficult to meet the growing demand for monitoring cathodic protection data in long-distance pipelines.

Intelligent cathodic protection test stations effectively reduce the human and material resources invested in monitoring the cathodic protection effectiveness of long-distance pipelines while improving the timeliness and reliability of data transmission. They lower the management and operational maintenance costs of the cathodic protection system, enable integrity management and multi-method monitoring of high-risk areas, provide early warnings to prevent accidents, and enhance the intelligent management level of the cathodic protection system.
