Corrugated pipes are formed by hydraulic molding of pipe blanks on specialized machines. During the corrugation forming process, the pipe blank expands, the pipe wall thins, and finally forms corrugations. Although the shape of the formed corrugations is controlled by the mold, each corrugation may not be identical due to factors such as heat treatment. The centers of each corrugation ring are not aligned on a single centerline. The formed corrugations undergo cold working hardening.

The hydraulic forming process of corrugations can be divided into two stages: the initial expansion stage of the pipe blank and the pushing feed forming stage of the corrugations.
