Silicon metal comes in two specifications: 10-100mm or 2-25mm.

〖Properties〗

Silicon metal, also known as industrial silicon or crystalline silicon, appears dark gray with a metallic luster. It features a high melting point, excellent heat resistance, high resistivity, and strong oxidation resistance.

〖Applications〗

Silicon is widely used in smelting ferrosilicon alloys as an alloying element in the steel industry and serves as a reducing agent in various metal smelting processes. It is also a key component in aluminum alloys, with most cast aluminum alloys containing silicon. Silicon is the raw material for ultra-pure silicon in the electronics industry; electronic devices made from ultra-pure semiconductor monocrystalline silicon offer advantages such as small size, light weight, high reliability, and long lifespan. Power transistors, rectifiers, and solar cells made from monocrystalline silicon doped with specific trace impurities outperform those made from germanium monocrystals. Research on amorphous silicon solar cells has progressed rapidly, achieving conversion efficiencies of over 8%. Silicon molybdenum rod heating elements can withstand temperatures up to 1700°C, with resistance that is less prone to aging and excellent oxidation resistance. Trichlorosilane produced from silicon is used to formulate hundreds of types of silicone lubricants and waterproof compounds. Additionally, silicon carbide serves as an abrasive, and quartz tubes made from high-purity silicon dioxide are essential materials for high-purity metal smelting and lighting fixtures.
