The temperature in the smelting furnaces of steel smelting plants ranges between800 and 1200 degrees Celsius, so the material must be highly resistant, and the requirements for wear resistance are also strict. Many manufacturers use refractory castables to address the wear resistance issues in these areas, but the results are not ideal. While refractory castables perform well underhigh temperatures, their wear resistancesignificantly decreases athigher temperatures. Zhengfeng Company's ceramic wear-resistant material fills this gap. Its specialized adhesive forms a sintering reaction with the material during the firing process. After sintering, the ceramic coating layer achieves a compressive strength of161 MPa and a flexural strength of 17.8 MPa, ensuring sustained and stable performance.

The production and processing of tortoise shell mesh ceramic wear-resistant material are highly stringent. Its formulation consists of over twenty acid and alkali-resistant binders and high-density silicon carbide and mullite aggregates. Therefore, there are strict requirements for on-site application. Work conditions and enterprises often encounter issues when using wear-resistant materials. Below is an analysis of common problems:


1. Welding; During construction, the bottom framework tortoise shell mesh must be anchored and welded. The welding points of the tortoise shell mesh must strictly adhere to a horizontal spacing of 20mm and a vertical spacing of 10mm. This ensures the tortoise shell mesh is securely welded to the bottom steel plate, preventing loosening or detachment due to vibration or high wind speeds.

2. Inspection of Welding; After welding the tortoise shell mesh, a preliminary inspection is required to ensure there are no issues such as missed welds or excessive spacing between welding points. If problems are found, timely reinforcement is necessary to ensure the stability of the foundational framework.

3. Preparation for Mixing; Begin mixing the ceramic wear-resistant material. Do not pour too much ceramic coating into the mixer at once. Each batch should consist of four bags (100 kg). Overloading the mixer may result in uneven mixing, affecting the material's performance.

4. Start Mixing; Add an appropriate amount of curing agent to ensure the wear-resistant material and curing agent are thoroughly mixed. Then, add a suitable amount of adhesive and mix evenly. The mixing time should be 10-15 minutes until the ceramic coating and adhesive form a highly viscous wet ball-like consistency. Only then can it be discharged from the mixer for use.


5. Application; Operators must wear protective gear such as labor gloves, masks, goggles, and protective helmets. For high-altitude work, qualified safety harnesses are required. Take an appropriate amount of wear-resistant material from the bucket (approximately 2 kg per batch) and apply it forcefully onto the welded tortoise shell mesh. Ensure there are no voids or insufficient compaction to guarantee the ceramic wear-resistant material bonds tightly with the tortoise shell mesh and steel plate. Vertical surfaces and overhead areas must be applied in one go without layering to prevent delamination.

6. Inspection; The applied ceramic wear-resistant material must not show bulging or sagging. If such issues are detected, reapply immediately until the material is firmly bonded to the steel plate.

7. Curing; The wear-resistant material must undergo a curing period to achieve the required strength before normal use. The curing period is typically 48 hours in summer and 72 hours in winter.
