Properties: White crystals or crystalline powder. Odorless, slightly sweet taste. Melting point ~245°C (decomposition). Optically inactive. Chemically relatively stable. Soluble in water (20.1g/100ml, 25°C), aqueous solution has a refreshing sweet taste. Difficult to dissolve in methanol, ethanol (0.07g/100ml, 25°C), acetone, etc. The physiological efficacy of DL-threonine is half that of L-threonine. Deficiency can easily cause loss of appetite and fatty liver, among other symptoms.
Use: Nutritional supplement.
