Scope of Application: The Single Wire and Cable Vertical Flame Test Apparatus, also known as the Single Wire and Cable Vertical Flame Chamber or Single Wire and Cable Vertical Flame Tester, is suitable for testing the flame resistance of various insulating sheath materials for wires and cables, such as PE, PVC, and SRPVC. During testing, it is manufactured in accordance with the GB/T18380.11-2022 test standard. The specimen is fixed at both ends and placed vertically in a metal enclosure with three metal panels. The burner is ignited, and the tip of the blue inner cone is made to contact the surface of the specimen while keeping the burner at a 45° angle to the vertical axis of the specimen.
Compliance Standards: Complies with GB/T18380.11-2022, GB/T18380.12-2022, GB/T18380.21-2008, GB/T18380.22-2008, IEC60332-1, and GB/T5169.14-2017 test standards.
Vertical Flame Test Method
This standard specifies the test method and requirements for the vertical flame test of a single insulated wire or cable under flame conditions.
The test method specified in this standard is not applicable to small wires with a diameter of less than 0.8mm or small stranded wires with a cross-sectional area of less than 0.5mm2, as their conductors may melt before the test is completed.
Before testing, all specimens should reach thermal equilibrium under conditions of temperature (23±5)°C and relative humidity (50±20)% (conditioned for at least 16 hours).
If the surface of the insulated wire or cable has a coating or varnish layer, the specimen should be placed at a temperature of (60±2)°C for 4 hours before undergoing the above conditioning.
Purpose and Composition of the Single Wire and Cable Vertical Flame Tester
This equipment is used to determine the non-propagating flame characteristics of wires under direct flame exposure from a specified ignition source.
The equipment mainly consists of three parts: the control box, the vertical flame test chamber, and the burner.
