Purpose and Structure

Preformed armor rods are used to protect conductors from vibration, clamp compression stress, friction, arcing, and all other external damages. Preformed short armor rods can protect conductors from arcing, friction, or other damages on lines with shorter spans where conductor vibration is not severe. They can also serve as repair rods to restore the original mechanical strength and conductivity of damaged conductors. Additionally, they are used to protect branch lines, preventing damage caused by arcing and friction at conductor branch points.

The structure of preformed armor rods and preformed short armor rods is simple: a set of preformed helices forms a hollow tube that generates a gripping force when wrapped around the conductor, thereby protecting it.

Preformed splicing fittings can be categorized into conductor splice rods, jumper splice rods, full tension splice rods for ACSR, T-connection rods, preformed splice rods (for steel strand guy/ground wires), and splice rods for aluminum-clad steel strands. Each product type, depending on the usage environment and line material, includes three series: for ACSR, aluminum strands, and steel strands. Except for the full tension splice rods for ACSR, all splice rods consist of a single layer of preformed helix; the full tension splice rods for ACSR are composed of three layers: an inner steel core splice rod, a filler rod, and an outer splice rod.

The rod set is made of aluminum-clad copper single wires, with conductive abrasive material inside.
