The DLPCA-200 variable gain amplifier is packaged according to its characteristics, with a wide range of applications, enabling the conversion of small currents into usable voltages. It is highly suitable, for example, for time and charge measurements in the microsecond range and as a preamplifier for photodiodes or lock-in systems. The DLPCA-200 offers variable gain values from 103 to 1011 V/A, allowing sensitive current measurements in the pico to femtoampere range. It features switch-controlled AC/DC coupling, a 10 Hz low-pass filter, and adjustable bias control, making it adaptable for various measurement tasks and signal conditions. The adjustable bias voltage connected to the input socket shield optimizes the connection of external diodes to the amplifier circuit, enhancing speed and noise performance.

All functions can be set manually via switches or remotely through an optically isolated interface. These robust, compact EMI-shielded cases are designed and constructed according to user requirements, ensuring uninterrupted operation in harsh and noisy environments.

Bandwidth and high-frequency response are independent of source capacitance

Unlike other amplifiers, the DLPCA-200 does not require special adjustments, such as frequency compensation for different sources. Even with high source capacitance up to 1 nF, the gain value remains unchanged, and the frequency response remains satisfactorily smooth. Common issues such as maximum gain value or oscillations are avoided through in-depth testing of the amplifier and its components before shipment.

Additionally, the DLPCA-200 provides high speed even at large gain settings. At the highest gain setting of 1011 V/A, it offers a 3 dB bandwidth of 1.1 kHz and a rise time of 300 μs. For low-frequency applications that do not require full bandwidth, the device includes a switchable 10 Hz low-pass filter to eliminate bandwidth noise, enabling precise DC current measurements and extremely low noise down to the femtoampere level.
