Daily Maintenance of Distributed Photovoltaic Modules

     Photovoltaic power generation modules have a small installation tilt angle and poor self-cleaning ability, making them prone to dust accumulation, which significantly impacts the system's power generation capacity. Therefore, it is recommended that after the project is completed and put into operation, this task should be treated as a key focus in operation and maintenance.

Recommended Module Cleaning Plan

1) Cleaning Methods

A) Water Rinsing (Neutral Water)

     The first step is to use water rinsing. Due to the large surface area, the workload for cleaning and maintaining the module surfaces is substantial. It is recommended to set up water supply devices (faucets and matching hoses) in separate zones. During cleaning, each sub-array can be addressed individually. The advantage of this method is that when dust is present, cleaning can be performed independently, with convenient operation and high efficiency.

Manual Cleaning

     When oily dust particles in the air adhere to the module surfaces, they are not easily dislodged, and water rinsing may not be effective. Therefore, it is recommended to monitor and inspect the module surfaces during system operation and maintenance. If there are areas of the module array that remain unclean after water rinsing, this method should be used for supplementary cleaning.

Required Tools: Extended mop (preferably made of pure cotton), neutral degreaser

Cleaning Method:

     Operate manually using maintenance access channels. Self-made extended specialized cleaning tools can be used for cleaning. Use a cleaning solution mixed with detergent to ensure oil stains are removed, followed by another round of water rinsing.

2) Maintenance Cycle

To ensure the cleanliness of the module surfaces, considering the installation method of this project and its urban location, it is recommended to set the water rinsing cycle to three times per month. Additionally, an inspection should be conducted at least once a month to determine the need for timely cleaning based on the level of dust accumulation.

Note: During summer, it is recommended to clean the modules in the early morning or evening when temperatures are lower. During winter, it is recommended to clean the modules in the afternoon when temperatures are higher.
