| Properties | Basic copper carbonate, also known as copper carbonate, exhibits a peacock green color and is a fine amorphous powder with a density of 3.85. It is insoluble in cold water and alcohol, soluble in acids to form corresponding copper salts, and soluble in cyanides, sodium hydroxide, ammonium salts, and aqueous solutions of alkali metal carbonates to form copper complexes. When boiled in alkali metal carbonate solutions, it produces brown copper oxide and decomposes into black copper oxide at 200°C. It is unstable in a hydrogen sulfide atmosphere. Basic copper carbonate exists in over a dozen forms depending on the ratio of CuO:CO2:H2O. In industrial production, its molecular formula is CuCO·C(OH)2·xH2O. Its solubility in water is 0.0008%, and its decomposition temperature is 200-220°C. It is low in toxicity. | |

| Usage Description | This product is used in the inorganic salt industry to prepare various copper compounds, in the organic industry as an organic synthesis catalyst, in the copper-tin alloy electroplating industry as a copper ion additive, and also in fireworks manufacturing, paint pigments, pesticides, antidotes for phosphorus poisoning, seed fungicides, and copper additives in feed. It is also used as a desulfurizing agent during crude oil storage. In recent years, it has been widely used in wood preservation and other fields. It has been designated as a green and environmentally friendly product by the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Environmental Protection. | |
