Bentonite Composite Waterproof Blanket (GCL) is a new type of geosynthetic material. It is made from graded natural sodium-based bentonite particles mixed with corresponding additives as raw materials. Through a needle-punching process and equipment, the bentonite particles are fixed between geotextile and plastic woven fabric to form a blanket-like waterproof membrane. Bentonite waterproof blanket not only possesses all the characteristics of geotechnical materials but also exhibits excellent waterproofing (impermeability) performance.

Bentonite waterproof blanket is produced by mixing bentonite particles and corresponding additives as raw materials. Bentonite waterproof blankets can be classified by production process into: needle-punched sodium bentonite waterproof blanket, needle-punched laminated sodium bentonite waterproof blanket, and adhesive-bonded sodium bentonite waterproof blanket.

The needle-punched laminated sodium bentonite waterproof blanket is composed of a layer of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) geomembrane laminated onto the outer surface of the non-woven geotextile of the needle-punched sodium bentonite waterproof blanket.

The adhesive-bonded sodium bentonite waterproof blanket is produced by bonding bentonite particles to a high-density polyethylene (HDPE) board using adhesive, followed by compression. Schematic diagram of the production process for sodium bentonite waterproof blanket. Physical characteristics:

1. Excellent waterproofing and impermeability performance, withstanding hydrostatic pressure up to 1.0 MPa or more, permeability coefficient of 5×10?11 m/s, bentonite mass per unit area of 5 kg/m2. Bentonite is a natural inorganic material that does not undergo aging reactions, ensuring good durability; and it does not adversely impact the environment, making it an eco-friendly material.

2. Possesses all the characteristics of geotextile materials, such as separation, reinforcement, protection, and filtration. It is easy to construct and is not limited by ambient temperature during construction; it can even be applied at temperatures below 0°C. During construction, simply lay the GCL waterproof blanket flat on the ground. For vertical or sloped surfaces, secure it with nails and washers, and overlap as required.

3. Easy to repair; even after the waterproofing (impermeability) construction is completed, if the waterproof layer is accidentally damaged, simple repairs to the damaged area can restore the original waterproof performance.

4. Relatively high cost-performance ratio and wide range of applications.

5. The product can have a width of up to 6 meters, matching the specifications of the upper geotextile (membrane), greatly improving construction efficiency.
