Float glass is a type of transparent, colorless flat glass produced by melting raw materials such as sea sand, quartz sandstone powder, soda ash, and dolomite in specific proportions at high temperatures in a furnace. The molten glass flows continuously from the tank furnace and floats on the surface of a molten metal, spreading into a uniform, flat glass ribbon that is fire-polished. After cooling and hardening, it is separated from the metal bath, annealed, and cut. Float glass features an exceptionally smooth and flat surface, highly uniform thickness, and minimal optical distortion. It is categorized into three grades based on appearance quality: premium, first-grade, and qualified. It is available in seven thicknesses: 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, and 12 mm.
