Measurement Principle:

Ultrasonic sludge interface measurement involves an ultrasonic sensor installed underwater, which emits a beam of ultrasonic pulses toward the sludge surface. This pulse signal reflects off the sludge-water interface and is received back by the sensor. The time interval from the emission of the ultrasonic wave to its reception is proportional to the distance between the sensor and the measured object's surface. The instrument detects this time and, based on the current temperature (measured by the sensor) and the speed of sound underwater, calculates the distance from the measured object's surface to the sensor (i.e., the spatial distance), which is then converted into a liquid level value. The distance W from the liquid level surface to the sensor is proportional to the travel time T of the sound wave: W = V × T / 2 (where V is the speed of sound in water). The user sets the height H from the probe to the bottom of the tank, and the instrument automatically converts the pulse travel time T into the corresponding spatial distance value W. The measured value L is then calculated as the difference between H and W.
