Amazon's Policies, Regulations, or Standards for Electric Mobility Devices
GCC Testing Standards for Electric Mobility Devices: CPSIA + UL 2272 or 16 CFR 1512 + UL 2849
This policy applies to Electronic Mobility (E-mobility) Devices
Electric mobility devices refer to small, low-speed electric transportation devices, including electric-assisted bicycles (e-bikes), electric scooters (e-scooters), and other small, lightweight wheeled electric transportation tools. This policy does not apply to electric mobility devices intended for use by children.
1. Hoverboards
Hoverboards, also known as self-balancing electric scooters or self-balancing electric skateboards, are electric mobility devices with two wheels and a platform between the wheels where the user stands. The user controls the hoverboard's forward or backward movement by shifting their feet.
2. Self-Balancing Unicycles
Self-balancing unicycles use sensors and electric motors to help the rider maintain balance on a single wheel. These devices do not have handlebars for the user to hold. Self-balancing unicycles are also known as single-wheel scooters.
3. Electric Skateboards (E-Skateboards)
Electric skateboards have four wheels and are equipped with a battery pack and power system to increase torque, assisting the rider in movement. Electric skateboards may include a handheld remote control, allowing the rider to operate the board during use.
4. Electric Scooters (E-Scooters)
Electric scooters are electric mobility devices with two or more wheels, a platform, a vertical handlebar for the user to hold, and a steering mechanism. Electric scooters come in various types, including foldable scooters, scooters with stands, and rideable scooters such as light electric mopeds. Electric scooters have a limited range and a top speed not exceeding 64.4 km/h (40 mph).
5. Self-Balancing Personal Transport Devices
Self-balancing transport devices may have one or two wheels. These devices are powered by rechargeable battery packs, and riders maintain balance by shifting their body weight.
6. Electric Bicycles (E-Bikes or E-Bicycles) and Electric Tricycles (E-Trikes or E-Tricycles)
Electric bicycles and electric tricycles are electrically assisted pedal bicycles. These are two or three-wheeled electric mobility devices for personal transportation, equipped with fully operational pedals and an electric motor that assists propulsion. The motor has a power output below 250 watts and a maximum speed below 25 km/h (15.5 mph) at full power.

Amazon requires that all other electric mobility devices be tested and comply with the following regulations, standards, and requirements:
1. Hoverboards, Self-Balancing Unicycles, Electric Skateboards, Self-Balancing Personal Transport Devices, Electric Tricycles: ANSI/CAN/UL 2272 (Standard for Electrical Systems of Personal E-Mobility Devices)
2. Electric Bicycles, all of the following:
16 CFR Part 1512 (Bicycle Requirements)
ANSI/CAN/UL 2849 (Standard for Electrical Systems of E-Bikes)
Note: New York State requires all electric bicycles to comply with UL 2849.

(2) Your detail page must include the following information:
1. Model number, part number, or item number
2. Manufacturer or brand name
(2.1) For electric mobility devices sold in New York State:
1. Image of the testing laboratory logo or name on the product or packaging
2. Safety standards under which the product was tested
The above information must match the test report, proving that the tested product is identical to the one listed on the product detail page.
