Xiaogan Matang Rice Wine Co., Ltd. is a comprehensive food production and operation enterprise. Established in 1954 as the Xiaogan County Matang Factory, it was reorganized into Hubei Xiaogan Matang Rice Wine Co., Ltd. in 1997, and transformed into a privately-owned company, Xiaogan Matang Rice Wine Co., Ltd., in 2001. The company has passed ISO9001 International Quality Management System certification and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) system certification. It is now a key leading enterprise in agricultural industrialization in Hubei Province, one of the first well-known food culture enterprises in Hubei, a national green food demonstration enterprise, a national industrial enterprise brand cultivation demonstration enterprise, a national contract-abiding and credit-worthy enterprise, and an "China Time-honored Brand" enterprise. The "Xiaogan Matang Production Technique" has been included in the Hubei Provincial Intangible Cultural Heritage List, and the "Xiaogan Brand" trademark has been recognized as a China Well-known Trademark. The company is also one of the drafting units for the green food·rice wine standard.

In November 2012, the company relocated from No. 9 Chenghuangtan, Xiaogan City, to the Liuhe Industrial Park in the Xiaogan High-Tech Zone. It covers an area of 100 mu, with a phase one investment of 80 million yuan and a construction area of 28,000 square meters. The greening area of the factory site reaches 15%. The new factory, built in accordance with GMP requirements, features fully automated Matang rice wine production lines and all supporting facilities, including 4 Matang production lines, 7 rice wine production lines, 1 sesame processing line, 1 maltose production line, and 1 specialty pastry production line. The annual production capacity includes 2,500 tons of Matang, 20,000 tons of rice wine, 5,000 tons of sesame kernels, and 2,000 tons of specialty pastries, with a target annual output value of 500 million yuan.
