Pipeline mixers are generally composed of pipes connected to components that promote mixing, such as nozzles, vortex chambers, perforated plates, or specially shaped plates. Typically, three sections of pipes are connected to form a single unit (the number of sections can be increased based on the properties of the mixing medium). There are three mixing methods: nozzle type, vortex type, and perforated plate/specially shaped plate type. For the common static spiral plate mixer, which evolved from perforated plate and specially shaped plate mixers, each section features a fixed 180° twisted spiral blade, available in left-hand and right-hand rotations. The spiral blades in adjacent sections rotate in opposite directions and are offset by 90°. To facilitate the installation of the spiral blades, the cylinder is constructed in two semi-circular halves, connected at both ends with flanges. The seams between the cylinder halves are bonded with epoxy resin to ensure sealing. The spiral blades inside the pipe are fixed, causing changes in fluid flow direction and inducing turbulence, thereby improving mixing efficiency. This type of static mixer requires no external energy source other than generating a pressure drop.
