Reasons for Surface Treatment of PC Endurance Board
It is well known that PC endurance board has high hardness and excellent toughness, making it particularly easy to process. Nowadays, PC endurance board is increasingly used in construction. However, prolonged use of PC endurance board may lead to softening*, which is a drawback of endurance boards. Therefore, it is essential to carry out anti-aging work for PC boards.
To reduce or prevent the aging of PC boards, coating methods are primarily adopted. Coating protection isolates the PC board from the environment through the paint layer, thereby achieving anti-aging purposes and extending the service life of the PC board. To maximize the anti-aging effect of the coating, the tight adhesion between the paint film and the PC board surface is crucial. If dirt is trapped between the substrate and the paint film, it not only reduces the anti-rust effect but also accelerates corrosion. Therefore, when performing surface protection treatment for PC boards, it is necessary to adjust the surface roughness of the PC board in advance, which is an indispensable step before coating.

Sunlight Board Product Characteristics:
(1) Light Transmittance: PC sunlight board has a light transmittance of up to 89%, comparable to glass. UV-coated boards do not easily yellow, fog, or lose transmittance when exposed to sunlight. After ten years, the light transmittance loss is about 10%, while PVC loss rates reach 15–20%, and fiberglass loss rates are about 12–20%.
(2) Impact Resistance: The impact strength is 250–300 times that of ordinary glass, about 30 times that of acrylic sheets of the same thickness, and 2–20 times that of tempered glass. It is known as "unbreakable glass" and "resonant steel."
(3) UV Protection: One side of the PC board is co-extruded with an anti-UV coating, while the other side has anti-condensation treatment, integrating UV resistance, heat insulation, and anti-fogging functions. It blocks ultraviolet rays and is suitable for protecting valuable artworks and exhibits from UV damage.
(4) Lightweight: The specific gravity is about half that of glass, reducing costs for transportation, handling, installation, and support frameworks.
(5) Flame Retardancy: According to the GB50222—95 standard, PC sunlight board is classified as flame-retardant (B1 grade). The self-ignition point of PC board is about 580°C, and it self-extinguishes after being removed from the flame. It does not produce toxic gases during combustion and does not contribute to the spread of fire.
(6) Bendability: It can be cold-bent on-site according to design drawings to form arches, semi-circular roofs, and windows. The bending radius is about 175 times the board thickness, and it can also be heat-bent.
(7) Sound Insulation: PC sunlight board has significant sound insulation effects, outperforming glass and acrylic sheets of the same thickness in acoustic insulation. Under the same thickness conditions, the sound insulation of PC sunlight board is 5–9 dB higher than that of glass, making it the material of choice for highway sound barriers.
(8) Energy Efficiency: It keeps buildings cool in summer and warm in winter. PC sunlight board has a lower thermal conductivity (K-value) than ordinary glass and other plastics, with heat insulation effects 7–25% higher than glass of the same thickness. The heat insulation of PC sunlight board can reach up to 49%, significantly reducing heat loss, making it suitable for buildings with heating systems.
(9) Temperature Adaptability: PC board does not become brittle at -40°C and does not deform at 125°C. Its mechanical and physical properties remain largely unchanged even in harsh environments.
(10) Weather Resistance: PC sunlight board maintains the stability of various physical indicators within a temperature range of -40°C to 120°C. After 4,000 hours of artificial climate aging tests, the yellowing degree is 2, and the light transmittance reduction is about 0.6%.
(11) Anti-Condensation: When the outdoor temperature is 0°C and the indoor temperature is 23°C, with indoor relative humidity below 80%, the inner surface of the material does not condense. Condensation flows along the surface of the board and does not drip.
