Working Principle of Ultrasonic Cleaners

Ultrasonic cleaning is based on the physical effect of "cavitation" when ultrasonic waves propagate through a liquid cleaning medium. The ultrasonic generator produces electrical energy with a frequency higher than 20 kHz, which is converted into ultrasonic energy by the transducer and transmitted into the cleaning medium. When the ultrasonic field intensity exceeds the cavitation threshold of the cleaning medium, numerous expanding "cavities" rapidly form in the cleaning liquid due to ultrasonic negative pressure. During ultrasonic positive pressure, these "cavities" are strongly compressed, generating microscopic intense shock waves and high-speed jets that act on the surface of the object being cleaned, causing contaminants to be quickly crushed and dislodged.
