I. Product Introduction

The polytetrafluoroethylene weight is a product similar to weighing weights, machined from PTFE material. Its mass and dimensions are specified by the national pharmacopoeia. Used in conjunction with a glass tube and tweezers, it measures the friability of medicinal hollow capsules.

II. Product Parameters

1. Polytetrafluoroethylene weight—Specially designed for hollow capsules in the pharmacopoeia. Specifications: 20g, diameter: 22mm.

2. Material: Laboratory-grade high-purity PTFE, corrosion-resistant, resistant to high and low temperatures, insulating, non-stick surface. Machined from PTFE extruded material.

III. Product Application

Application: As stipulated in the "Chinese Pharmacopoeia" for "hollow capsules" products. (The device consists of a PTFE weight and a glass tube. Place the sample hollow capsule at the bottom of the glass tube, and allow the weight to free-fall onto the capsule from above to observe the extent of capsule breakage.)

IV. Usage Notes

Use weights that meet the required mass accuracy and diameter (specifications: 20g, diameter: 22mm). The head of the weight should be shaped like that of a standard weighing weight for easy handling with tweezers. A glass tube approximately 20cm long should be used (custom weights are acceptable). Tweezers, preferably made of PTFE, should be used to grip and配合 the weight head.

V. Testing Example

Testing the friability of gelatin hollow capsules: Take 50 capsules, place them in a petri dish, transfer to a desiccator containing a saturated magnesium nitrate solution, maintain at 25±1°C for 24 hours. Remove and immediately place each capsule individually into a glass tube (internal diameter 24mm, length 200mm) standing upright on a wooden board (2cm thick). Allow a cylindrical weight (made of PTFE, diameter 22mm, weight 20g) to free-fall from the top of the glass tube. Observe if the capsules break; if any break, the number should not exceed 5.
