With the development of railways towards high speed and electrification, the requirements for the maintenance and overhaul of steel bridges have become higher. It is no longer possible to frequently carry out construction operations on bridges as in the past. This necessitates the development of coating systems with better anti-corrosion performance and longer service life, requiring only one or two protective coatings throughout the entire service life of the steel bridge. At the same time, efforts should be made to develop water-based coatings and environmentally friendly coatings that cause minimal environmental pollution.

1 High-Performance Coatings

For example, room-temperature cured fluorocarbon coatings, which possess exceptional weather resistance, outstanding salt spray resistance, excellent resistance to chemical media, and good anti-fouling and erosion resistance. Domestic fluorocarbon coatings still lag behind foreign products in terms of key performance indicators. Therefore, efforts should be intensified in the research and development of fluorocarbon coatings, especially fluorocarbon resins, to produce truly high-quality fluorocarbon coatings.
