SKD61 is a Japanese brand of hot work mold steel,

corresponding to China's grade (GB/T 1299-2000) 4Cr5MoSi V1, which is the most widely used hot work mold steel. SKD61 corresponds to the American standard H13 and the Korean standard STD61.

Characteristics

● Strengthening elements vanadium and molybdenum are specially added, resulting in exceptional wear resistance.

SKD61 exhibits good toughness and high-temperature fatigue resistance, can withstand sudden temperature changes, and is suitable for long-term use at high temperatures. It offers excellent machinability and polishing performance. SKD61 is produced through electric furnace smelting and further refined by electroslag remelting, resulting in purer steel and better toughness. It is suitable for manufacturing extrusion dies, die-casting molds, hot forging dies, and hot shear blades for aluminum, zinc, and copper alloys. It is also an ideal material for ejector pins and ejector sleeves in small-sized bright steel (peeled, cold-drawn) products. SKD61 is also suitable for high-volume plastic molds. Nitriding treatment can create a hardened layer on the mold surface, significantly improving wear resistance and corrosion resistance for extrusion molds. For die-casting molds, nitriding treatment greatly enhances surface corrosion resistance and facilitates rapid product release. SKD61 hot work mold steel has a beautiful metallic luster.
