Structure The filter separator is a metal housing containing a primary filter element (coalescing filter element) and a secondary filter element (separation filter element). It is equipped with manual and automatic vent valves (upon customer request), stainless steel drain valves, differential pressure gauges, direct-reading differential pressure meters (upon customer request), online sampling probe valves, sampling connectors, safety valves (upon customer request), water level sight glasses (upon customer request), heating devices (for customers in cold regions), and other accessories. 2. Working Principle When jet fuel enters the filter separator, it first collects in an aluminum tray and then disperses into the coalescing filter element from the inside out. The first step involves the filtration layer removing solid impurities; the second step passes through the demulsification layer to separate emulsified oil and water; the third step uses the coalescing layer to aggregate tiny water droplets into larger ones, which settle into the water collection tank. Then, any remaining small water droplets that have not coalesced are further separated by the hydrophobic action of the separation filter element and settle into the sedimentation tank, where they are discharged through the drain valve. Clean fuel passes through the separation filter element, collects in the secondary tray, and is discharged from the outlet of the filter separator. 3. Service Life The working status of the filter separator and the service life of the filter elements are primarily determined by the differential pressure. When the inlet-outlet differential pressure reaches 0.1 MPa (1.0 kg/cm2), it indicates that the coalescing filter element is clogged and should be replaced. Additionally, if the coalescing filter element has been in use for more than six months, replacement should be considered. The separation filter element is a permanent-type element and can be used long-term if there is no mechanical damage.
