The Direct Gas Content Determination Device DGC-1 is primarily used for determining the original gas content of coal seams and the original desorbable gas content of coal seams. It can be applied in gas emission prediction, outburst risk assessment for working faces and regions, evaluation of pre-drainage gas effects, and the compilation of gas geological maps. By directly drilling underground to extract coal cores at predetermined depths, the gas desorption rate and desorption volume of the coal cores are measured. A specific mathematical model is used to calculate the gas loss before the coal sample is sealed in the sample cylinder. Laboratory measurements of relevant parameters are then used to calculate the original gas content and original desorbable gas content. This process and equipment feature short measurement times, generally less than 8 hours; reduced engineering workload compared to indirect methods for determining coal seam gas content, resulting in lower costs; minimal influence from geological structures on measurement location selection, allowing for point measurements; and high reliability and accuracy, with precision exceeding gas content measurements during geological exploration.
