I. Working Principle

This pressure relief valve consists of a cylinder, piston assembly, protective cover, etc. The cylinder is formed by welding (or casting) the upper and lower flanges and the cylinder body. To enhance corrosion resistance and prevent rust, the cylinder is made of stainless steel material. The piston assembly consists of a clamp plate, O-ring seal, piston, pull rod, etc. The piston assembly can be installed from the left end of the cylinder and fixed in place by the clamp plate, preventing any lateral movement. The protective cover is formed by welding (or casting) the flange, cylinder, and cover plate. When the pressure relief valve activates, the protective cover prevents the piston from flying out and causing injury, providing a safety function. This pressure relief valve is installed in the air compressor system on the outlet pipeline of the air receiver, directly facing the airflow direction. When the air compressor system operates normally, the system pressure is ≤0.785 MPa (8 kgf/cm2), and the pressure relief valve functions properly under this pressure. If the air receiver ignites due to carbon buildup or if gas inside the air receiver combusts for any reason, the temperature and pressure in the system instantly rise. When the pressure reaches 1.03±0.049 MPa (10.5±0.5 kgf/cm2) (parameters are listed in Table 3), the pull rod immediately breaks, and the pressure relief valve activates, rapidly releasing the high-temperature and high-pressure gas from the air receiver and pipeline. This mitigates shock waves and prevents major accidents.
