Description

XIAMETER? OFS-6040 silane is a bifunctional silane containing an epoxy organic reactive group and a trimethoxysilyl inorganic reactive group, with the chemical name γ-glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane. This epoxypropyl silane can react with many different types of organic polymers.

Usage

XIAMETER OFS-6040 silane possesses both organic and inorganic reactivity, enabling it to react or "couple" with organic polymers and inorganic surfaces. This dual reactivity should be prioritized when using XIAMETER OFS-6040 silane in specific applications.

It is particularly recommended to use XIAMETER OFS-6040 silane as:

? A glass fiber treatment agent for reinforced plastics

? A treatment for mineral fillers in filled plastics

? An adhesion promoter to enhance the bonding of polymer coatings, paints, or adhesives to glass, metal, or other polymer surfaces.

For example, XIAMETER OFS-6040 silane is used as a surface treatment agent on glass fiber rovings. Its applications include glass fiber-reinforced epoxy composites, improving the physical properties of the composite, especially wet strength.

XIAMETER OFS-6040 silane enhances the physical properties of mineral-filled polymers, such as silica-filled epoxy resins.

It is also recommended as an additive to improve the adhesion of acrylic latex caulks.

Polymers of XIAMETER OFS-6040 silane can also be used in polyurethanes, acrylics, polysulfides, nylon, and other polymers.

Storage and Shelf Life

When stored in the original unopened container at 25°C (77°F) or below, this product has a shelf life of 36 months from the date of manufacture. After opening, avoid exposure to moisture in the air to prevent gelation of XIAMETER OFS-6040 silane.
