Introduction to Hot Stamping Foil:

Structure and Materials

- Base Layer: Typically made of 12μm-25μm thick biaxially oriented polyester film, which offers tensile resistance and withstands instantaneous high temperatures, serving to support the various coatings.

- Release Layer: Usually coated with silicone resin, its function is to rapidly separate the pigment, aluminum, and adhesive layer from the polyester film after hot stamping, transferring and bonding them to the surface of the stamped object.

- Color Layer: Mainly composed of synthetic resins and dyes with good film-forming properties, heat resistance, and transparency, used to display color and protect the aluminum plating layer's patterns from oxidation.

- Plating Layer: Formed by melting and evaporating aluminum wire onto the film's color layer under vacuum conditions, primarily reflecting light to give the color layer a metallic luster.

- Adhesive Layer: Generally made of thermoplastic resin that melts easily. Different resins are selected based on the material being stamped, dissolved in organic solvents or formulated into aqueous solutions, coated onto the aluminum layer, and dried to bond the stamping material to the object.

Characteristics

- Temperature Requirements: The hot stamping temperature is typically 95-135 degrees Celsius, requiring testing with different types of hot stamping foil based on the substrate and pattern.

- Stamping Area: Various options are available, including fine strokes (for small areas), 66 mm solid stamping (general purpose), and 1010 mm solid stamping (for large areas).

- Storage Conditions: Should be stored at room temperature, protected from moisture, pressure, and direct sunlight.

Application Fields

- Apparel Fabrics: Used for decorating high-end fashion, piece goods, T-shirts, bags, casual shoes, etc.

- Plastic Products: Such as ABS, PVC, and other soft plastic accessories, electronic products, ballpoint pens, watch faces, etc.

- Paper Printing: Commonly seen in high-end cigarette packs, liquor boxes, brochures, mooncake boxes, books, etc.

- Leather Goods: Including fashion shoes, bags, book covers, artificial leather, and other PU leather or faux leather products.

Process Principle

The hot stamping foil process utilizes the principle of heat and pressure transfer. Under specific temperature and pressure, the aluminum or other pigment layers in the foil are stripped via the stamping die and transferred to the surface of the substrate, creating special metallic effects or decorative patterns.
