Cysteine sulfide β Cystationine β Synthase (CBS) is a homologous tetramer in the cytoplasm, composed of 63 KD subunits, and is a pyridoxal phosphate (PLP) dependent enzyme. Under the catalysis of vitamin B6, CBS can synthesize cysteine sulfide from serine and homocysteine (Hcy). As a key enzyme that affects the level of Hcy, CBS plays a crucial role in the sulfuric acid conversion pathway of Hcy to cysteine sulfide. This enzyme is used in enzyme cycle methodology for the detection of homocysteine in the blood.
